About Jimmy Jenkenheimer
Jimmy Jenkenheimer is our ambitious, though unrefined Adventure Super Master, a hero with the power to travel into any piece of literature by striking himself as hard as he can in the head with the book's cover. Using this secret skill, Jimmy leads his companions into the world of educational broadcast television (a cross between Reading Rainbow and The Crocodile Hunter.) This literary safari however, is hijacked by Jimmy’s bitter rivals, The Lobster Handed Krew. As Jimmy is forced into a game of cat and mouse through numerous works of classic fiction, he has to make a choice between protecting his friends and confronting the wounds of his past.
Jimmy is the oldest project ever developed by Park Lytle, first beggining in 2016. At the time Jimmy Jenkenheimer existed as a character created in a series of school projects while Park was still in high school. However the potential of the character and world inspired Park to continue expanding the story beyond its original intention. For years Park created new characters, adventures, and built out the world of the play, in time he had a fully lived in world... with nowhere to put it in. Park had experimented with short stories, film scripts, graphic novels, and TV pilots; it wasn't until he began his grad school education at California Institute of the Arts did he see the potential in a stage play.
Park initially began his collaboration with his fiancé and long time stage manager Sam Millette, and his director Kellie Hageman, both of whom were quickly swallowed up into the passionate cyclone Park had created around the Jimmy Jenkenheimer story. In November of 2023, Jimmy Jenkeneimer made its workshop debut in the CalArts coffeehouse theater, with a cast and design team who would become the founding artists of the Jimmy Jenkenheimer story.
After the successful workshop, Park spent the next year slowly building out a plan for what would be his first professional staging beyond the festival and workshop sphere. He was fortunate enough to retain the majority of his cast and team, including the original Jimmy Jenkenheimer, Kevin Sheahan. new faces such as Ben Formella, Jeannie Lynn Hageman, and continued collaborator Maddison Rivera would join the cast, and in November of 2025. Jimmy Jenkenheimer performed for one week to sold out audiences at Actors Company LA in Wet Hollywood.
This would mark the official shift from Park Lytle's producing, as he would capitalize on the success and momentum to rebrand his company to Shackleton Theatrics, a company focus on capturing the spirit of adventure and exploring the dangers of theatre-making. While Park has continued to develop and establish new and exciting works, Jimmy Jenkenheimer will continue to stand as the flaghship production of Shackleton Theatrics' history.
